Enseignants du Guéra sans salaire : une crise sans grève

Salaries of Teachers in Guéra Province Abruptly Reduced

In Mongo, within the Guéra province, a wave of disbelief has engulfed the teaching community following unexpected reductions in February salaries.

Numerous educators, anticipating their monthly payments, were met with unpleasant surprises at their banks. Many discovered unexplained deductions from their salaries, leading to widespread confusion and dismay among the teaching staff.

This situation is especially perplexing given that, according to local sources, the Guéra branch of the Syndicat des enseignants du Tchad (SET) did not participate in the recent strikes that pitted the government against various teachers’ unions.

Widespread Impact on Schools

The repercussions of this abrupt pay cut are profound. Demotivated by what they perceive as unfair treatment, several teachers have refrained from returning to their classrooms. Those who have shown up are seeking answers from their peers, further unsettling the academic environment.

In numerous educational institutions across Mongo, classes have been disrupted. Students, left with little to do, linger in schoolyards amid an unusually quiet atmosphere.

Ali Salim, the deputy head of Lycée de Mongo B, remarked, "Over 80% of my teachers are affected by this sudden salary reduction. Consequently, many have left in search of alternative means to provide for their families."

Growing Concerns Amidst Lack of Official Communication

The salary deductions have further destabilized educators already facing challenging living conditions. In the absence of any formal communication from the authorities, anxiety is mounting within the educational sector of Guéra.

This development underscores the fragility of teacher morale in the region, highlighting the urgent need for clarity and resolution. Without intervention or explanation, the uncertainty surrounding this issue continues to loom over the community.
