Formation juridique : un atout clé pour les journalistes de demain

Under the auspices of the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, in cooperation with the Chad Online Media Association (AMET), a significant workshop on legal concepts is being held at CEFOD from February 16 to 17, 2026, aiming to benefit journalists.

This training is designed to provide media professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the structure and competencies of various court jurisdictions. The goal is to enhance their ability to effectively and accurately report on judicial matters.

With legal issues increasingly dominating the news landscape, the Ministry of Justice and AMET recognize the importance of equipping journalists with essential knowledge and skills. The 48-hour training session reflects this commitment to fostering quality journalism in the legal field.

Opening the event, Dr. Youssouf Tom, Minister of Justice and Human Rights, emphasized the critical role journalists play as the « eyes and ears of the public. » He stressed the necessity for media professionals to disseminate precise and reliable information, especially concerning judicial matters, while avoiding any confusion between civil, criminal, and administrative concepts.

Bello Bakary Mana, president of AMET, highlighted that this initiative marks a significant milestone for their young association. He expressed AMET’s dedication to continuing capacity-building efforts to promote coherent and professional reporting, thanking the support of the High Authority for Audiovisual Media (HAM) and other authorities involved in organizing this training.

Eveline Fakir Kanassawa, vice-president of HAM, supported the initiative, underscoring the institution’s commitment to ensuring quality information in media outlets. She noted that this workshop offers journalists a valuable opportunity to refine their professional practices and bring noticeable improvements to their respective news organizations.

This effort represents a pivotal step in advancing journalistic standards and enriching the quality of legal reporting, contributing to a more informed public.
